Technical Project Manager
You will own the delivery of IT projects from scoping to completion, coordinating between our technical teams, clients, and third-party vendors.
About this role
Bigfoot Networks delivers IT projects ranging from office relocations and cloud migrations to security deployments and infrastructure refreshes. As a Technical Project Manager, you will own these projects from initial scoping through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the standard our clients expect.
You will work at the intersection of business and technology, translating client requirements into clear project plans, coordinating with engineers and vendors, managing risks and dependencies, and keeping everyone informed of progress. You are the single point of accountability that makes the difference between a project that drifts and one that delivers.
This role requires someone who can manage both the technical detail and the human dynamics of project delivery. You will be working with clients who are not technical, engineers who are deeply technical, and vendors who have their own priorities. Your job is to align all of these parties toward a shared outcome.

What you will do day to day in this role.
The core responsibilities of this role. This is what your typical week looks like, though no two weeks are exactly the same.
Scoping and planning
Work with clients and technical teams to define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria. Document requirements, identify constraints, map dependencies, and create realistic project plans that account for the complexity of real-world IT environments.
Project delivery
Manage the end-to-end delivery of IT projects, from planning through execution to handover. Ensure milestones are met, quality is maintained, and the client is informed at every stage. Take ownership of outcomes, not just activities.
Vendor and supplier coordination
Coordinate with third-party vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure their deliverables align with the project timeline. Hold vendors accountable to their commitments and escalate issues before they affect the overall delivery.
Risk and change management
Identify risks early, maintain a risk register, and ensure mitigation plans are in place before they are needed. Manage scope changes through a defined change control process that keeps all stakeholders informed of impact.
Budget tracking
Track project costs against budget in real time. Flag variances early, ensure additional costs are approved before they are incurred, and provide transparent financial reporting to clients and internal stakeholders.
Communication and handover
Provide clear, honest progress reports to clients and internal teams. Translate technical detail into business language for non-technical stakeholders. Conduct post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and ensure handover documentation is complete.
The skills and experience we are looking for.
The skills, experience, and qualities that will help you succeed in this role. If you meet most of these but not all, we still want to hear from you.
Project delivery experience
At least three years of experience delivering IT projects, ideally in an MSP, consultancy, or systems integrator environment. You should have a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget across a variety of technology areas.
Technical understanding
Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure), networking, and security concepts. You do not need to configure a firewall, but you need to understand what is involved and how long it takes.
Stakeholder management
Proven ability to manage relationships with clients, engineers, and vendors simultaneously. You are comfortable having difficult conversations, setting expectations, and holding people accountable in a professional manner.
Planning and organisation
Ability to break complex work into manageable phases with clear milestones and dependencies. Comfortable using project management tools and maintaining detailed, up-to-date project documentation.
Communication
Excellent written and verbal communication. You can write a project status report that a board member can understand and a technical specification that an engineer can follow. You adapt your communication style to your audience.
Problem solving under pressure
Projects do not always go to plan. You remain calm, think clearly, and make good decisions when things go wrong. You focus on solutions, not blame.
Not essential, but nice to have.
These are not requirements, but they would be a bonus. If you have any of the following, mention it in your application.
Project certifications
PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, or equivalent project management certification. We will support you in obtaining these.
Cloud migration experience
Hands-on experience managing Microsoft cloud migrations including Exchange, SharePoint, and Azure AD.
Security project delivery
Familiarity with Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001, or other compliance and security implementation projects.
Multi-site deployments
Experience managing infrastructure projects across multiple office locations with coordinated rollouts.
ITIL frameworks
Understanding of ITIL service management frameworks and how they inform project handover and service transition.
Vendor management
Experience coordinating with multiple third-party vendors and holding them accountable to delivery timelines.
